Really enjoyed this piece — the Middle Portage has such a powerful mix of natural challenge and history. I love how you tied together the landscape, the Chaudière, and the stories embedded in the route; it makes the ramble feel meaningful, not just scenic. These kinds of places are where heritage really comes alive. It actually reminded me how important it is to preserve and represent identity and history, whether through storytelling like this or even small tangible things like custom patches and insignia we work on at The American Patch for outdoor groups and heritage organizations. Thanks for sharing this slice of Ottawa Valley history.

This episode of Ottawa Valley Rambles does a great job of bringing the Middle Portage of the Chaudière to life, from its rugged terrain to its historical significance. Narratives rooted in place and purpose often influence creative work too, whether it’s storytelling, art, or even thoughtfully crafted custom patches that reflect a sense of journey and identity.

Ottawa Valley Rambles – Episode 6: The Middle Portage feels like a quiet journey through history, where the landscape itself tells stories of movement, trade, and resilience. The pacing and visuals really capture that sense of connection between people and place. It’s interesting how projects like this preserve local heritage in much the same way communities preserve identity through symbols whether that’s storytelling on screen or craftsmanship like UK back patches services, which help riders and groups carry their own history and values with them wherever they go.

Really enjoyed this ramble — the Middle Portage sounds both challenging and fascinating, especially with the mix of history, rapids, and old timber slide routes. Andrew Van Beek’s visuals always bring these places to life. As someone running Eagle Patches, a brand known for custom patches, you can check us out here: https://eaglepatches.uk/. Loved reading this!

This episode of Ottawa Valley Rambles beautifully captures the rugged challenge of the Middle Portage of the Chaudière, highlighting the natural beauty and history of the area. The detailed narration reminds me of how local industries, like beanie manufactures, often draw inspiration from such rich cultural landscapes
